Jalen Jones Named the W&M Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by the Virginia Lottery

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – After posting a tremendous performance in the William & Mary football team's victory against Campbell, redshirt freshman cornerback Jalen Jones was selected as the W&M Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery.

Jones was voted as this week's award winner by the Tribe fanbase via social media polls on both the @TribeAthletics Twitter and Instagram accounts. Field hockey's Lauren Curran, volleyball's Kaitlyn Ferguson and men's soccer's Alexander Levengood were also honored as finalists for the weekly award.

Making his first career start, Jones recorded three interceptions, highlighted by a 33-yard pick-six late in the third quarter that helped secure the win. The outstanding effort marked the first time a Tribe player has recorded three interceptions in a game since B.W. Webb (also a redshirt freshman at the time) accomplished the feat in the season-opening triumph at Virginia in 2009.

Jones piled up 61 return yards with his interceptions and also posted a pair of pass breakups and a tackle.

Following the impressive effort, Jones was selected as the FedEx Ground FCS National Defensive Player of the Week and the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week.
