WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's soccer scored twice in the opening 45 minutes, but the visitor Coastal Carolina rallied behind four second-half goals to pull out a 4-2 win on Sunday afternoon at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.
Senior
Nathan Messer put the Tribe on the board in the seventh minute. Junior
Joe Core did well to win the ball in the midfield, and find a streaking
Diba Nwegbo down the left wing. Nwegbo's cross made it all the way to the back side of the box off a nice dummy from senior
Alexander Levengood to pause the defense. Messer lifted it over the top of the Coastal Carolina goalkeeper from eight yards out.
W&M doubled its lead in the final three minutes of the first half. Freshmen
Lucas Caldas and Webb Koisch combined for the score. Caldas laid the ball off to a streaking Kosich into the left side of the penalty area. Kosich score into the far post past the on rushing Coastal goalkeeper.
Coastal pulled one back early in the second half. Off a long throw-in, Marcello Jones hammered home a volley into the lower left side of the goal form 15 yards out to draw the visitor within 2-1 in the 52nd minute.
The Chanticleers pulled even off another set piece, this time a corner kick. The ball was served to the near post where Alvaro Garcia-Pasual headed it home to tie the game at two in the 66th minute.
Coastal's onslaught continued with two goals in the final 10 minutes to lift the visitor to the win. Maurice Hauser's volley from 22 yards in the 81st minute proved to be the game-winner. With W&M pressing for the equalizer, the Chants scored in transition as Noah Glorioso picked up his second assist of the contest, finding Lucio Berro for the match's final tally.
