WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Men's Tennis junior
George Davis was named the William & Mary Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery on Thursday
Davis, who was named the CAA Player of the Week on Wednesday, went 2-0 in both singles and doubles in leading the Tribe to 7-0 sweeps of Longwood and CAA rival Elon.
Playing at No. 1 singles, the junior topped Longwood's Rosen Naydenov, 6-3, 7-5, and then topped 2021 first-team All-CAA performer Kyle Frankel of Elon in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (3). He partnered with
Harrison Brown at No. 1 doubles to pick up wins in both matches and helped W&M to the doubles point against both the Lancers and Phoenix.
In the classroom, Davis is majoring in government. He was named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll and selected as an ITA Scholar-Athlete last year.
