WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Women's basketball graduate student
Sydney Wagner was named the William & Mary Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery on Tuesday.
Wagner helped spark a second-half comeback in the Tribe's road win over Longwood on Sunday afternoon, scoring 11 of her 21 points in the fourth quarter. It was the third time this season Wagner has racked up 20 or more points and the 20
th time she's hit the mark in her career.
A perennial offensive power for the Green and Gold over the last few seasons, Wagner is sixth in the CAA in scoring (15.7/points per game) and 3-point field goals per game (2.3). All but automatic at the stripe, she also ranks third in conference in free throw percentage (.884/38-for-43). In 10 non-conference games to open the season, Wagner is averaging a team-high 35.4 minutes and has yet to play under 30 minutes in any given matchup.
Wagner is enrolled in the MBA program at the prestigious Raymond A. Mason School of Business. During her time with the Tribe, she has been both a W&M Provost Award winner and CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection.
