BLACKSBURG, Va. – William & Mary women's tennis continued fall action at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic Region Championships hosted by Virginia Tech.
 
In singles action, sophomore Emma Fernald led the way for the Tribe, going 2-1. She won her opening round match in the qualifying draw, topping Georgetown's Agata Mikos in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2. Fernald dropped her second round match in three sets to qualifying draw's No. 7 seed Kendall Kovick of West Virginia, 7-5, 5-7, 10-6. She wrapped up the event with a consolation draw three-set win over Mason's Taylor Garcia, 7-6 (5), 6-7 (7), 10-7. Fernald moved to 4-3 in singles action during the fall.
 
Like Fernald, graduate student Sofiya Kuzina opened with a victory in the qualifying draw, topping No. 6 seed Tatiana Lipatova of West Virginia, 6-3, 6-3. She dropped a three-set match in the second round to JMU's Ines Oliveira, 1-6, 6-3, 15-13. Kuzina is 5-2 on the year.
 
Senior Elisa Van Meeteren posted a straight-sets win in the consolation draw, topping Liberty's Maretha Burger, 6-3, 6-2. She owns five singles wins during the fall.
 
In the main doubles draw, sophomores Ine Stange and Hedda Gurholt notched an opening-round 8-4 victory over the Maryland duo of Kallista Liu and Francesca Feodorov. The Tribe tandem's run in the event came to an end at the hands of the No. 15-seeded VCU team of Victoria Matasova and Yelizaveta Karlova, 8-4.
 
In the main singles draw, Gurholt battled for three sets before falling to Maryland's Kallista Liu, 6-3, 5-7 ,7-5.
