Seniors Spark Field Hockey Over Towson

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – After honoring the careers of eight seniors and two graduate students ahead of Friday evening's tilt against Towson, William & Mary kept the celebration going into the game as the Tribe rolled to a 4-0 victory at Busch Field. Four different players — all part of the pre-game program — found the back of the cage, while W&M held a 16-3 shot advantage against the Tigers.

The Tribe (9-7, 3-3 CAA) played with energy from the opening whistle, racking up seven penalty corners in the first quarter. But while W&M had several chances to jump out to an early lead, it wasn't until the waning seconds of the frame that graduate student Aidan Rossman split a pair of Towson players to get the Green and Gold on the board.

W&M continued to control play throughout the second quarter and, at the 17:22 mark, took advantage of another penalty corner. Senior Lauren Curran scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season, tipping in a ball from senior Tabby Billingham. Just over two minutes later, graduate student Aubrey Scott King padded the lead with her first goal of the year.

In the opening 30 minutes, W&M drew 11 penalty corners and recorded five shots on goal.

Coming out of halftime, the Tribe continued to control play. Billingham dished out her second assist of the night in the 35' minute, when she connected with Amber Bode for the senior's first career goal. Billingham got the play started, pushing her way up the field before making a beautiful pass through the Towson (4-11, 0-4 CAA) defense.

W&M put nine shots on cage, while holding the Tigers to two. Junior goalkeeper Maddie George stopped both looks in her second straight shutout.
