WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Men's soccer freshman
Lucas Caldas was named the William & Mary Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery on Tuesday.
Caldas was voted as this week's award winner by the Tribe fanbase via social media polls on both the @TribeAthletics Twitter and Instagram accounts. Men's golfer Logan Hunter, field hockey's Lauren Curran and women's swimming's Elizabeth Intihar were also honored as finalists for the weekly award.
Caldas scored the game-winning goal in the Tribe's 2-1 upset of No. 10 Wake Forest on Oct. 11. It was Caldas's first career goal. In the 75th minute, the Sterling, Va., native got on the end of an
Alexander Levengood cross to break a 1-1 draw and lift the Tribe to its first top-10 win since 2015.
For his efforts, Caldas was named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week.
