WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Women's cross country sophomore
Kyra Holland was named the William & Mary Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery on Tuesday.
Holland was voted as this week's award winner by the Tribe fanbase via social media polls on both the @TribeAthletics Twitter and Instagram accounts. Men's soccer's Alexander Levengood, women's golf's Sarah Houle and men's golf's Logan Hunter were also honored as finalists for the weekly award.
Holland led the Tribe at the Virginia Invitational over the weekend, placing ninth among the 87 competitors. She ran the 5K course in 18 minutes flat. Holland was ninth after covering the first 2K in 6:54.6 and improved to sixth at the 4.1K mark, before settling into the top 10 at the finish. She opened the season by winning the William & Mary Invitational.
Last season, Holland finished third at the CAA Championships, equaling the best finish for a Tribe freshman. She also excelled in the classroom, earning both W&M Provost Award honors and CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll distinction.
