Women's Soccer Drops Final Nonconference Match to #12 Georgetown

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary women's soccer closed out nonconference play on Saturday night falling to No. 12-ranked Georgetown, 6-0, at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.
 
The visiting Hoyas (4-0-4) scored just two minutes into the contest off a corner kick. Maya Fernandez-Powell, who also scored on a penalty kick in the 86th minute, provided the service and Daisy Cleverly won the header finishing into the left side net from eight yards out.
 
Georgetown doubled its lead with less a minute left in the opening half. Reserve Tatum Lenain scored from the right side of the area.
 
Hoya forward Gia Vicari tallied goals in the 52nd and 57th minutes to extend the Georgtown lead in the second half, before Cyanne Doyle added the visitor's fifth in the 63rd minute.
 
Georgetown outshot the Tribe (2-5), 14-3, on the night, including a 10-1 advantage on frame. The Hoyas tallied eight corner kicks compared to W&M's one.
 
After making her collegiate debut in the second half vs. ECU, freshman Morgan Wood started her first career game against Georgetown. She played the first half and finished with a save. Sophomore goalkeeper Grace Lemley played the final 45 minutes and recorded three saves.
