WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Volleyball graduate student
Julia Brown was the first William & Mary Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery for 2021-22 on Tuesday.
Brown led the Tribe to a 2-0 start with dominating 3-0 wins over Western Illinois and Air Force last week. It marked the first time since 1994 that the Tribe opened the season with back-to-back 3-0 wins.
In a return to her home state of Illinois, Brown impressed with 21 kills and just six errors in six sets at the Huskie Invitational hosted by Northern Illinois. For her efforts, Brown was named to CAA Offensive Player of the Week, as well, on Monday.
In Friday's season-opener, Brown smashed 10 kills hitting .412 and had a trio of blocks to help best Western Illinois. Saturday the middle blocker was equally as dynamic hitting .471 with 11 kills and three blocks in a sweep of Air Force.
An All-CAA First Team pick during the spring season, Brown graduated with her undergraduate degree in Biology in May and returned to W&M to pursue her MBA.
