Women's Tennis Falls at Liberty

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Junior Mila Saric and sophomore Alisia Manolescu picked up singles victories but William & Mary women's tennis suffered a 5-2 setback at Liberty on Saturday afternoon.
 
How It Happened
- Liberty took the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 posts. On line two, Saric and senior Vitoria Okuyama picked up a 6-4 win over Tiffany Nguyen and Micaela Ode Mitre. It marked the pair's first win of the season.
- The Flames won in straight-sets at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles to secure the team victory.
- The reigning CAA Player of the Week Saric continued her winning ways in singles action with a straight-sets triumph at No. 1. She upended Alexandra Almborg, 7-5, 6-2, to improve to 2-0 at the top spot this season and record her 35th career singles win overall.
- Sophomore Alisia Manolescu picked up her first career win as a member of the Tribe in come-from-behind fashion at the No. 5 position. After dropping the first set, 6-3, Manolescu rallied in the second to post a tiebreaker win, 7-6 (3), over Micaela Ode Mitre. In the third-set super break, Manolescu outlasted Ode Mitre, 10-8.

The Tribe returns home for a Sunday, March 7, doubleheader. W&M hosts instate foe Norfolk State at 11 a.m. before welcoming CAA counterpart Towson to Williamsburg at 2 p.m. Both matches will be played at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center and will be streamed on PlaySight at TribeAthletics.com/TennisLive. W&M home athletics events are not open to the general public.
