WILLIAMSBURG,VA. - Fresh off last week's sweep of Elon, William & Mary volleyball (2-0, 2-0 CAA) will head down the coast for a pair of matches with College of Charleston (1-1, 0-0) this weekend. The Tribe will meet the Cougars for matches on Saturday and Sunday, both slated for 2:00 p.m. starts.
With the pair of wins last weekend the Tribe begins CAA play 2-0 for the first time since the 2009 season. They will face a rested Charleston team that played a pair of non-conference tilts in January but has not taken the floor in five weeks.
The two teams split the 2019 season series 1-1 with each team holding serve at home. The Tribe faltered 3-0 in their trip to TD Arena last season, but was able to rally to defeat the Cougars 3-2 at home behind a 13 kill, 10 block double-double from
Julia Brown.
Leading the League- The Tribe leads the CAA in a multitude of categories early in the season. W&M tops the league with 16.38 kills per set, 16.00 assists per set, and a .294 hitting percentage. Individually,
Kate Dedrick leads the league with 5.83 kills per set,
Kate Van Houten paces the CAA with 13.38 assists per frame, and
Anna Porter is tops with 5.12 digs per set.
Kate Being Great-
Kate Dedrick earned the CAA Offensive Player of the Week honor after her performance in the sweep of Elon. Dedrick smashed 41 kills over eight sets during the weekend and recorded her first career double-double (18 kills, 13 digs) last Saturday.
An Even 18-
Julia Brown put down exactly 18 kills in each of the Tribe's two wins over Elon to begin the season. Brown is hitting .319 on the season and ranks third in the CAA with 4.50 kills per set.
50/50 Club- Sophomore
Kate Van Houten has had 50+ assist outings in both of the Tribe's games thus far. She dished out 55 last Friday and 52 on Saturday, both in 3-1 wins over Elon.

Anna Porter and defensive specialist
Gabi Ganley has been a key to the Tribe defense. Porter is averaging a Caa-best 5.13 digs per set and has picked up at least 20 in each of the first two matches of the 2021 season. Ganley has chipped in 16 digs and has been perfect in serve receive.
