Men's Tennis Bounces Richmond, 6-1, in First Outdoor Match of 2021

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Playing its first outdoor match of the season, William & Mary men's tennis posted its 20th-straight victory over former Colonial Athletic Association rival Richmond, 6-1, on Friday afternoon at the Millie West Tennis Facility.
 
How It Happened
- The Tribe (2-3) captured the doubles point for the third time in five matches with matching 6-1 wins at the top two spots.
- At No. 1, the Tribe tandem of graduate student Brenden Volk and sophomore George Davis continued their strong play, dropping just one game in a 6-1 win over Josh Keitelman and Daniel Kliebhan. Volk and Davis improved to 3-2 at the top spot with their second-straight win.
- Graduate student Lev Kazakov and junior Joseph Brailovsky won for the second time in three matches at No. 2, topping the Richmond pair of Campbell Erwin and John Walsh.
- The Tribe won a trio of straight-set matches at No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 to put the match away, while notching three-set wins at No. 3 and No. 4.
- Volk won at the top position for his second win of the spring. He topped All-Atlantic 10 First teamer Matt Fernandez, 7-5, 6-4.
- On line five, Brailovsky dropped just five total games in a 6-2, 6-3 win over Erwin. He evened his spring mark at 2-2.
- Senior Finbar Talcott won his third-straight match and improved his team-best singles mark to 4-1 with a straight-sets win at No. 6. He upended Richmond's Josh Keitelman, 6-2, 7-5.
- Davis won in three sets at No. 4 to even his season ledger at 2-2. He won the opening set from John Walsh, 6-2, before the Spider player claimed the second, 7-5. Davis outlasted his counterpart in a third-set tiebreaker, 7-6.
- At No. 3, senior Sebastian Quiros and Alex Wernink traded 6-0 sets with Quiros rallying from a set deficit. In the third, the Tribe senior picked up his second win of the spring with a 7-5 win. It marked Quiros 48th career singles triumph.
