How It Happened
- JMU (7-1, 2-0 CAA) claimed the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Okuyama and Saric won at the No. 1 spot, topping Daria Afanasyeva and Alexia Franco, 6-4. The Tribe tandem improved to 4-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 at No. 1.
- The Dukes increased its lead to 3-0 with straight-sets wins at No. 2 and No. 4.
- The Tribe (2-5, 1-1 CAA) mounted a comeback with junior
Lisa Fukutoku claiming the opening set at No. 6 and both Saric and Okuyama rallying to force third sets at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively.
- JMU secured the team win as Alexis Franco downed sophomore
Elisa Van Meeteren in straight-sets at No. 5. The Dukes senior clinched the match with a tiebreaker triumph in the second set, 7-6 (1).
- JMU finished out the match with three set wins at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6.
