Men's Tennis Wins Second Straight at Radford

RADFORD, Va. – Graduate student Brenden Volk rallied for a three-set victory at the top singles position in leading William & Mary men's tennis to its second-straight road victory, 4-3, at Radford on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Tribe evened its overall record at 4-4 with the win. After winning the doubles point, senior Sebasitan Quiros and sophomore George Davis joined Volk in picking up singles victories to secure the team triumph.
 
How It Happened
- The Tribe claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Playing together for the first time this season, seniors Chen Ruo and Finbar Talcott gave W&M the early advantage with a 6-2 win over Konstantinos Raptis and William Crane on line three.
- Graduate student Lev Kazakov and junior Joseph Brailovsky clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 triumph over Demis Taramonlis and Andres Silva at the second spot. The Tribe tandem improved to 4-2 at No. 2.
- After Radford moved in front with singles wins at No. 2 and No. 4, Quiros drew the Tribe even at two with his fourth singles victory of the year. The Tribe senior outlasted Andres Silva, 7-5, 7-6, at No. 5.
- Davis won in three-sets at No. 3 to put the Tribe in front for good. The Tribe sophomore won the opening set, 6-1, before Guilherme Severin pulled out a tiebreaker win in the second. Davis improved to 4-3 overall and 2-0 on line three with a 6-1 win in the decisive third.
- After dropping the first set, 6-0, Volk lost just four games in the rest of the way in rallying for a come-from-behind win at the top spot. He upended Radford's Yevhen Sirous, 6-1, 6-3, in the final two sets on his way to the clincher. Volk evened his season ledger at 4-4 with his third win at No. 1.

The Tribe travels to James Madison for its second CAA match-up of the season on Saturday, March 27. The contest carries a 2 p.m. start time.
