Women's Basketball Travels to Richmond Sunday

 WILLIAMSBURG, Va. –  The William & Mary women's basketball team travels to Richmond, Va. to compete against the University of Richmond, Sunday afternoon. Tip-off at the Robin Center is scheduled for 2 p.m. Fans can pay to watch on ESPN(+).

W&M News and Notes
- W&M will face Hampton University for the second time this season on Wednesday night. In the last meeting between the Tribe and the Pirates, W&M won 58-41 at Kaplan Arena on November 29. Senior Sydney Wagner finished with a team-high of 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Junior Bre Bellamy was just one rebound shy of her second double-double of the season with 10 points and nine rebounds in the win. 

- In its most recent match-up on Sunday against ODU, the Tribe shot 16-of-16 from the foul line. The Tribe had three players, Sydney Wagner (13), graduate student Kate Sramac (11), and freshmen Dani McTeer (10) scoring in double digits. McTeer led the team with eight rebounds. 

- The Tribe shot perfect from the free-throw line (16-16) Sunday afternoon for the first time since 1/25/19. On the season, the Tribe is shooting 77.7% from the charity stripe. That number ranks second in the CAA and places W&M 25th nationally.  

- The Tribe has held two opponents to under 50 points so far this season. Under head coach Ed Swanson, the Tribe has held opponents to under 50 points in 29 games and are 28-1 in those contests. 

-  Prolific scorer Sydney Wagner is just one point away from reaching the 800-point mark in her career. Wagner leads all Tribe players with 89 points through eight games this season. 

- The Tribe has had a fierce defense through seven games this season. Holding opponents to just 54.7 points per contest, the Tribe ranks second in the league and 46th in the nation. Swanson's club has been particularly strong defending the three, holding teams to a 20% mark from deep, to lead the CAA and rank eighth in the NCAA. 

- Freshman Ava Stevenson has scored at least six points in four of her five appearances this season. Stevenson has knocked down at least one three pointer in all five games. The freshman is shooting 58% (7-12) from three. 

-Freshman post player Dani McTeer has started  in each of the eight games this season and been one of Swanson's most consistent players. McTeer is averaging 8.6 points per game and scored in double digits three times this season. McTeer is shooting 48% from the field (third in the CAA) and 78% from the free-throw line (sixth in the CAA). She leads all CAA freshmen averaging 5.3 rebounds per game. 

-Kate Sramac stuffed the stat sheet on Sunday with 11 points, 6-of-6 from the foul line, seven rebounds, and two assists. Sramac is second on the team in rebounds, averaging 6.0  a game and is tied for first with 14 steals. 

- W&M    head    coach    Ed    Swanson    enjoyed    a    noteworthy    2019-20    season    individually.  He  was  named  the  CAA  Co-Coach  of  the  Year  following  the  Tribe's  historic  season.  Swanson  won  his  500th  career  game  on  Nov.  26,  became  just  the  third  coach  in  W&M  history  to  win  100  games  with  the  Tribe  on  Jan.  12,  and was inducted into the Northeast Conference Hall of Fame in January.
