W&M Field Hockey Ends the Season in CAA Semifinals

Newark, Del. -  The William & Mary field hockey team (3-13, 3-3 CAA) suffered a 3-1 setback at Delaware (11-8, 5-5 CAA) in the Colonial Athletic Association Semifinals on Friday.

W&M got off to a slow start with Delaware's scoring a pair of goals in the second and 27th minutes by Morgan Rigual. The Blue Hens extended the lead with a goal by Ashley Iannuzzi in the 28th minute. 

Junior Amber Bode responded with her first career goal just over a minute and a half later in the second quarter. Juniors Tabby Billingham and Lauren Curran provided the assists as W&M scored off a penalty corner. 

In the cage, sophomore Maddie George earned a career-high of 10 saves, while two-time All-CAA Second Team pick Billingham earned a career-high with four assists.

The Blue Hen's outshot the Tribe, 21-3, including a 14-3 advantage in shots on goal. Delaware owned the margin, 8-2, in penalty corners.
