Men’s Soccer Hosts GrassRoot Game on Saturday Night

11/2/2021 11:44:00 AM

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's soccer is partnering with GrassRoot Soccer to help bridge the adolescent health gap. The Tribe will host a GrassRoot Game when it welcomes Elon to Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field on Saturday night at 7 p.m.

GrassRoot Soccer is an international organization that uses the power of soccer to educate and mentor adolescents about their greatest health challenges, including HIV/AIDS, malaria, sexual and reproductive health, and gender-based violence.

Saturday's contest will be a charity game to benefit Grassroot Soccer. For every $25 donated, an at-risk child is supported through Grassroot Soccer's programs and given a far greater opportunity to lead a healthy life. The Tribe's goal is to raise enough money to send at least 100 at-risk youth through Grassroot Soccer's programs. To date, Grassroot Soccer has graduated over 12 million youth in more than 60 countries!

Before Saturday's game, each W&M player hopes to collect at least $250 in donations for the cause. Follow the link and support your favorite Tribe player. The Green and Gold has already raised $600 toward their $3,000 goal.

The Tribe will be wearing GrassRoot soccer shirts for warmup before the Elon game to support the organization. Visit the Tribe's fundraising page to help the cause.
