WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Coming off an impressive defensive performance at nationally-ranked Hofstra, William & Mary women's soccer returns to the friendly confines of Martin Family Stadium at Albert Daly Field to host a weekend pair. W&M welcomes Elon to Williamsburg on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m., before hosting JMU on Sunday, Oct. 24, for Senior Day beginning at 1 p.m.
All Tribe home matches and all CAA contests will be streamed on FloFC.

- Junior goalkeeper
Zoe Doughty was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. It marked the second time in her career that she won the honor. Doughty recorded a career-high 10 saves in shutting out the league's top-scoring offense in Hofstra. She also earned a spot on the College Soccer News National Team of the Week and was selected honorable mention by Top Drawer Soccer.
- The Tribe's scoreless draw at No. 6-ranked Hofstra on Oct. 17 was the program's first result against a nationally-ranked opponent since picking up a win over No. 25 Georgetown in 2015. It was the highest-ranked result (win or tie) for the Green and Gold since a 1-0 win over No. 2-ranked North Carolina in 2007.
- With scoreless draws against Drexel and Hofstra, W&M (3-7-2, 1-2-2 CAA) posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time in five years. The Tribe last posted two-straight clean sheets on Sept. 8 and Sept. 11, 2016. The Tribe last notched three or more shutouts in a row during the 2015 season. The Green and Gold has not allowed a goal in regulation over the last three matches and has given up just one tally in the last 317:22.
- Doughty returned to the Tribe's starting lineup against UNCW on Oct. 7 and has started the last three matches. She has a goals against average of just 0.28 over that stretch, recording 22 saves while facing 23 shots.
- The Tribe will host Senior Day on Sunday, Oct. 24, when it welcomes JMU to Martin Family Stadium. W&M will honor its senior class of

- Elon enters the weekend at 7-5-1 overall and 2-2-1 in CAA play. In league play, the Phoenix notched CAA wins over Charleston, 2-1, and most recently, at Northeastern, 2-1, in OT on Oct. 17. Carson Jones leads the Phoenix with nine points on four goals and one assist, while Sarah Bevington and Kayla Hodges each of three goals. McKenna Dalfonso has started all 13 matches in goal and owns a GAA of 1.07 to go with 41 saves and five shutouts.
- The series between the Tribe and Elon is even at 3-3-1. The Phoenix have won each of the last two meetings, including a 2-0 victory in Williamsburg last spring. W&M's last win in the series came in 2018 at home, 2-1.
- The Dukes sit at 5-8-1 on the year and 2-3 in CAA play. JMU picked up CAA wins on the road over Drexel, 1-0, and Towson, 2-1. Most recently, the Dukes suffered a 3-1 home loss to UNCW on Oct. 17. JMU travels to Charleston on Thursday, before taking on the Tribe. Hannah Coulling leads JMU with four goals, while Ebony Wiseman tops the team in points with nine points on three goals and three assists. Alexandra Blom has started all 14 matches in goal for JMU and owns a 1.39 GAA to go along with 57 saves and three shutouts.
- W&M leads the all-time series with JMU at 22-15-6. The teams have played to a 2-2 draw each of the last two seasons, both in Harrisonburg. The Dukes travel to Williamsburg for the first time since a 2-1 win in 2018.
- Freshman
Riley Friesen, who was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Sept. 26, is one of only two Tribe players to start all 12 matches this season. A leader along the backline, she leads the team in minutes played, having been on the field for 1125 of 1132 total minutes this season.
- The Tribe roster consists mainly of freshmen and sophomores with 18 of the 30 student-athletes coming from those two classes. In total 15 of those 18 have seen game action in 2021, including 10 that have earned starts. In total, eight of W&M's 10 freshmen have seen action.
- W&M alumna Kathy Carter '91 was recently elevated to chief executive of the Organizing Committee for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. She previously served as the Chief Revenue Officer of LA28 since 2018. Carter, who earned her degree in government, was a standout goalie for the Tribe from 1987-90 and still holds the school record of a 0.78 goals-against-average.
- The Tribe has enjoyed great success in the classroom recently. As a team, W&M sports a 3.53 cumulative GPA, following a 3.6 semester in the spring. In total, 30 W&M student-athletes earned CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll distinction last year and 23 received W&M Provost Award honors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Tribe alum and two-time World Cup winner Jill Ellis '88 was named the president of the latest National Women's Soccer League expansion team in San Diego in June. The team will start play in NWSL beginning in the Spring of 2022.
