LYNCHBURG, Va. – Freshman Hedda Gurholt and the William & Mary doubles team of junior Alisia Manolescu and freshman Emma Fernald advanced to the final round at the ITA Atlantic Region Qualifying on Saturday. Each will have a chance to advance to the super regional, Oct. 22-25 in Charlottesville, with a victory on Sunday morning.
 
Fernald and Manolescu upset the No. 6 seeded Virginia Tech pair of Semra Aksu and Tamara Barad Itzhaki in the doubles round of 16 to start the day. The Tribe tandem won for the second time in as many days, outlasting the Hokies in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (6). The duo takes on the draw's top seeded West Virginia Tech team of Camilla Emilia Bossi and Ting-Pei Chang at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
 
In singles action, Gurholt won a three-set match to improve to 4-1 on the year and advance to the round of 16 on Sunday. After splitting the first two sets by matching 6-2 scores, the Tribe rookie took down VCU's Shivani Manjanna in the decisive third set, 6-3. Gurholt squares off with No. 12 seed Michaela Kucharova of West Virginia for a spot in the super regional at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.
 
Junior Raffaela Alhach and freshman Emma Fernald split a pair of matches in the consolation singles draw on Saturday. Alhach topped Longwood's Nina Hederich, 6-1, 6-3, for her fourth win of the season, while Fernald posted her third victory of the fall, upending Virginia Tech's Sabina Richtrova, 7-6 (5), 6-2.
 
In the doubles consolation draw, Alhach and junior Elisa Van Meeteren picked up a win on Saturday. The Tribe tandem rolled to a 6-2 win over Radford's Salma Loudili and Melissa Ifidzhen.
 
The final day of the ITA Atlantic Region Qualifying begins at 8:30 a.m. with the final round of doubles. Singles is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. with one round.
