Men's Soccer Rolls to 2-0 CAA Win over Drexel

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's soccer scored once in each half in picking up an important Colonial Athletic Association win over Drexel, 2-0, on Saturday night at Martin Family Stadium.

Juniors Diba Nwegbo and Alfredo Bozalongo each tallied goals in the victory. Defensively, junior Connor Andrews recorded a pair of saves to record his second shutout of the year.

Nwegbo opened the scoring the Green and Gold (4-6, 2-3 CAA) in the 34th minute. On the play, junior Alexander Levengood played Nwegbo free into space down the right flank. The Tribe striker cut into the upper right corner of the 18-yard box and tucked a beautiful bending shot just inside the left post for his fourth goal of the year.

Five minutes into the second half, Andrews came up with his first of two saves to deny a Drexel (5-6-1, 2-2-1 CAA) scoring chance. Kyle Tucker and Chris Donovan played give-and-go into the top of the box, but Andrews smothered Donovan's toe-poke that was intended for the lower right corner of the goal.

The Green and Gold doubled its lead in the 56th minute, cashing in a corner kick chance. Levengood played the corner short to classmate Nathan Messer who sent a cross to the middle of the area. Bozalongo beat a Dragon defender to the service and volleyed it home from 10 yards out into the right side of the goal for his first tally of the year, giving W&M a 2-0 advantage.
