Women's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw with Drexel

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary women's soccer played Drexel to a scoreless draw on Sunday afternoon at Martin Family Stadium.

Junior goalkeeper Zoe Doughty turned in a strong performance in net for the Tribe (3-7-1, 1-2-1 CAA) equaling her career-high with eight saves to record her second career shutout.

Doughty made three saves in the second overtime period, but none bigger than her stop in the 101st minute. Drexel's Delaney Lappin gained space with a nice move along the top of the 18-yard box. Doughty made a diving save to her right on Lappin's shot. The Dragons (5-4-2, 1-1-1 CAA) thought they had the winner as Melissa Lyon jumped on the rebound and finished into the left side of the goal. She was ruled to be offside on the shot negating the score.

W&M had two quality chances in the final five minutes of the second OT, but couldn't find the mark. Off a long freekick, sophomore Ginny Delacruz flicked a header on frame from 10 yards out, but Miyuki Schoyen made the save.

With less than 30 seconds remaining, Schoyen came up with her biggest save of the day. Off a turnover in the midfield, junior Kayleigh Shackford hit a shot from 22 yards out that Schoyen stopped with a dive to her right.

The Tribe's best chance of the opening 45 minutes came in the 35th minute as Hannah Potter intercepted a Dragons' pass back to the goalkeeper. Her breakaway shot from inside the left side of the penalty area was stopped by Schoyen, who finished with four saves.
