Women's Golf Moves Up the Leaderboard on Second Day of Kiawah Island Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The William & Mary women's golf team continued its strong play in the second round of the Kiawah Island Classic on Monday. The Tribe recorded its best round of the season as it shot a 296 (+8) to make its tournament score 599 (+23) after 36-holes.
 
Freshman Cindy Zhou had one of the best rounds in school history on Monday. She carded a 69 (-3) in the second round to put her tournament score at 144 (E) and tied for 11th in the 261-player field.
 
Sophomore Sarah Houle and senior Allison Olberding are both in the top-100 of the event. Houle took two shots off of her first-round score as she shot 73 (+1) and is sitting at 148 (+4) tied for 40th after the first 36-holes. Olberding also improved her first round score by three strokes and carded a 75 (+3) and has scored a 153 (+9) through the first two days.
 
Notes
The team's 296 (+8) is tied for the 10th best round in school history and the best round of the season … The 599 (+23) is good for the seventh best 36-hole score in school history … Freshman Cindy Zhou's 69 (-3) is her career-low and is tied for the fourth best round in school history … Her 144 (E) through 36-holes is also her career-best and ranks tied for 14th in W&M lore … Classmate Mikah McDonnell's 159 (+15) is her best 36-hole score to date.

What's Ahead
The Tribe women's golf team concludes play in the Kiawah Island Classic tomorrow, March 3. W&M will be the other top-26 teams on the Osprey Point Course with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
 
Individual Tournament
Senior Jordan Michalak continued to stay in the hunt for the individual tournament championship. She scored an 80 (+8) in the second round of the tournament and is fourth place after the first 36-holes. Her 156 (+12) is just seven strokes off of the lead set by UNCG's Anna Grace Brock at 149 (+5).
 
The final round of the individual tournament for Michalak will get underway on the Cougar Point Course on Tuesday, March 3 at 8:30 a.m.
