DURHAM, N.C. – William & Mary women's tennis dropped a 7-0 decision at No. 7-ranked Duke on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils improved to 11-2 overall, while the Tribe fell to 5-4.
How It Happened
- Duke captured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Summer Dvorak and Hannah Zhao gave the Blue Devils the lead with a 6-3 win on line three over the freshman pair of
Elisa Van Meeteren and Raffaella Alhach. At the top spot, Chloe Beck and Kelly Chen clinched the initial point of the match with a 6-3 win over senior
Rosie Cheng and
Natalia Perry.
- The Blue Devil lineup featured four players ranked in the national top 80. No. 30-ranked Beck increased the Duke lead to 2-0 with a win over senior
Charlotte Madson at No. 4.
- No. 7-ranked Chen upended sophomore
Mila Saric at the top spot, before No. 80-ranked Meible Chui cemented the Duke win with a victory on line three over junior Victoria Okuyama.
- Dvorak (No. 6), No. 48-ranked Margaryta Bilokin (No. 2) and Zhao rounded out the Blue Devil sweep with straight-set singles wins.
