Men's Tennis Tops Brown, 4-2

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – William & Mary men's tennis swept its weekend Ivy League trip thanks to a 4-2 win over Brown on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Tribe (6-1) continued its doubles dominance, claiming the initial point for the seventh-straight match. Senior Brenden Volk (No. 4), sophomore Joseph Brailovsky (No. 1) and freshman George Davis (No. 5) picked up singles wins over the Bears (8-3) to secure the Green and Gold victory.
 
How It Happened
- The Tribe improved to 17-2 as a team in dual-match doubles action and picked up victories at the top two spots to take a 1-0 lead.
- At the top spot, Volk and Davis ran their record to 7-0 thanks to a 6-2 triumph over Ching Lam and Roger Chou.
- Brailovsky and junior Chen Ruo secured the point with a 6-3 victory over Jacob Walker and Peter Litsky on line two. The Tribe tandem improved to 4-2 on the year in dual-match action.
- After Brown pulled even with a straight-sets win at No. 2, Brailovsky put the Tribe back on top 2-1. He dropped just three total games in a 6-1, 6-2 win over Walker at the top singles post. Brailovsky upped his season ledger to 13-6, including a 6-1 mark at No. 1.
- The Bears, who downed Boston College earlier in the week, tied the match for the second time at two with a win on line three.
- The Tribe picked up wins at No. 4 and No. 5 to secure its second-straight win. Volk won his fifth match in a row, upending Roger Chou in three sets, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3. The Tribe senior improved to 9-8 overall, 5-1 in dual-match play and 3-0 at No. 4.
- Davis clinched the Tribe victory with a straight-sets win on line five. He rolled past Niraj Komatineni, 6-2, 6-3, for his 13th win of the season. Davis improved to 6-1 in dual-match competition.
 
Up Next
- The Tribe returns home for its second Colonial Athletic Association match of the season against Elon on Sunday, March 1. The match carries a 1 p.m. start time and could be played outdoor at the Millie West Tennis Facility or indoors at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center depending on the weather.
