WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary field hockey senior Ella Donahue was named the Tribe Leader of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery on Tuesday. The Tribe Leader of the Week recognizes exceptional William & Mary student-athletes for their contributions as leaders in the classroom and the community.

Donahue was selected as a team captain for the 2020-21 season after starting 17 of 19 matches in the midfield last season. She has seen her role increase each year during her Tribe career and has appeared in 55 career matches with three goals.

The kinesiology major has excelled in the classroom as well. Donahue was honored on the Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll each of the last two years and in 2019, was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Academic team with a grade point average above 3.3.

Donahue, who serves as a marketing intern for Tribe Athletics, is active in the community as a leader as well. She leads the William & Mary Chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, collaborating with other athletes regarding their Christian faith. Donahue also volunteers at the Anna Julia Cooper Episcopal School in Richmond as a homework buddy for middle school students, serving as a role model for younger kids who aspire to attend college.
