Trio Leads Women's Basketball to Win at Defending CAA Champion Towson

3TOWSON, Md. – Senior Victoria Reynolds, sophomore Eva Hodgson, and freshman Bre Bellamy combined for 67 of the William & Mary women's basketball team's 83 points as the Tribe bounced back with an 83-75 victory over defending Colonial Athletic Association Champions Towson in Maryland Sunday afternoon.

Despite leading the whole game, Towson (4-8, 0-2 CAA) had trimmed the Tribe's lead to 73-70 late in the fourth quarter. The Tigers brought it to four again, but W&M hit its free throws to pull out the 83-75 win.

The Tigers used a 7-1 run to cut the lead down to three, which was the closest it had been since it was 2-0 in the first quarter. Back-to-back Q. Murray jumpers cut the lead to 70-65, before W&M hit a free throw. The run ended with a Kionna Jeter 3-pointer with 2:39 left.

W&M (10-3, 1-1 CAA) opened the contest with the first six points, but Towson tied the score at eight. W&M responded with a 14-2 run to take a 12-point cushion late in the first quarter. Reynolds opened the rally with a lay-up, before Bellamy canned a triple. After a Tiger basket, the Tribe answered with three-straight 3-pointers from Bellamy, Hodgson, and Reynolds, which made it 22-10 with 3:35 in the opening stanza.

Leading 38-30, the Green and Gold used a quick 6-0 run to take its lead to 14 points for the first time. Junior Bailey Eichner hit a lay-up, Wagner sunk a jumper, and Reynolds added a lay-up to make 44-30 with 2:50 to go in the half.
