W&M enters conference play with a 2-2 record after earning victories against Lafayette and Colgate and suffering setbacks against a pair of FBS opponents – Virginia and ECU. The Tribe has been successful offensively versus FCS opposition and is averaging 34.0 points per game in those contests. Additionally, W&M's defense has allowed just two touchdowns during the last two weeks and ranks tied for sixth in the nation with 10 forced turnovers. Defensive linemen
Bill Murray and
Carl Fowler have both totaled 2.5 sacks apiece, as W&M ranks among the nation's top 20 in sacks per game (2.75) and TFL per game (7.8).
After losing its season opener at Central Michigan, UAlbany has bounced back with wins in two of its last three games. The lone setback during the recent stretch came at Monmouth in overtime, 38-35. The Great Danes have been productive offensively and are averaging 34.2 points per game, while their defense ranks third in the CAA by allowing just 21.5 points per game. Karl Mofor leads UAlbany's rushing attack and ranks second in the conference with 100.5 yards per game on the ground, while wideout Jowan Green ranks second in the league with 102.0 receiving yards per game. Defensively, Levi Metheny and AJ Mistler rank tied for second in the CAA with 9.0 tackle per game.
Saturday's game will mark just the second meeting between W&M and UAlbany. The programs' first matchup came last year in Williamsburg, as the Tribe rallied back from a 12-point deficit with a pair of touchdowns late in the fourth quarter to earn a thrilling 25-22 victory at Zable Stadium.
