WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's soccer team dropped its lone scrimmage to Longwood 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field. Junior
Colleen Norton scored the Tribe's lone goal.
Trailing 1-0, Longwood scored a pair of goals four minutes apart and held on for the victory. In the 47th minute, against the run of play, Kennedy Culbreath got behind the Tribe defense and slide a shot from the left of the 18-yard-box into the lower right corner of the net. The Lancers found the winner just four minutes later when Emilie Kuspov found Emily Mothersbaugh sprinting down the left side of the 18 and she put her one-timer away into the middle of the goal.
W&M took an early lead as it scored in the 40th minute. Freshman
Kayleigh Shackford directed a cross on target, but it was saved by Lancers' goalie Mary Kate Levush. However, the rebound found the foot of junior
Colleen Norton who buried her chance into the empty net.

Kickoff between the Tribe and the Colonials is set for 7 p.m. Opening weekend concludes as the Tribe opens a three-game road swing at No. 15 South Carolina on Sunday, Aug. 25. The match is set to kickoff at 7 p.m.
