Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Junior
Brenden Volk posted a straight-sets singles win for William & Mary on Friday afternoon, but Charlotte claimed a close double point before winning five of six singles matches to post a 6-1 victory.
Friday's match was the Tribe's first trip to Charlotte since 1991, and the contest was moved indoors to Lifetime Fitness and up an hour due to inclement weather. The 49ers picked up their first win in the all-time series with W&M, snapping the Tribe's four-match win streak.
How It Happened
- Charlotte captured the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead with 6-4 triumphs at No. 1 and No. 2. The No. 32-ranked team in the country of Luca Keist and Constandinos Christoforou won four of the final five games at the top spot to down junior
Brenden Volk and sophomore
Chen Ruo. Benajmin Wayand and Ignasi de Rueda clinched the initial point with a win over sophomore
Finbar Talcott and freshman

- The 49ers cemented the team triumph by winning the first three singles matches off the court. Charlotte notched straight-sets wins at No. 1 and No. 2 before Oliver Sec clinched the 49ers victory with a win at No. 5.
- Volk won for the fourth time in his last six matches with a straight-sets triumph at No. 4. The Tribe junior topped Benajmin Wayand, 6-4, 6-4, for his 11th win of the year.
- Vasser and freshman
Daniel Pellerito each won their opening sets at No. 4 and No. 6, respectively. Unfortunatley, Christoforou rallied by for a three-set set Charlotte win on line four, while Alejandro Garcia Moreno did the same at No. 6 to round out the 49ers victory.
