The William & Mary Athletics Department is excited to announce its 2019 W&M Athletics Hall of Fame Class, presented by Mark Boddy, CFP Northwestern Mutual.  This year's class includes eight athletes, one longtime staffer, and an outstanding team.  All together, the inductees represent nine different sports.

The Class of 2019 includes Anna Agbe-Davies '93, volleyball; Anna Davis Barnes '05, field hockey; Sonja Friend-Uhl '93, women's cross country and track & field; Kyra Kaylor Smargiasso '08, women's basketball; Megan Moulton-Levy '07, women's tennis; Greg Sexton '08, baseball; Bob Sheeran '67, sports information director/broadcaster; and the 1997 Women's Soccer Team.  Additionally, George Collins '70 of men's swimming & diving and Mike Howell '93 of men's track & field, who were originally elected to the Hall of Fame last year but had to defer their official inductions, will also participate in the ceremony.

The event will take place on Saturday, May 4, in the Sadler Center on William & Mary's campus.  It will start with reception at 6:30 pm and will be immediately followed by the dinner and formal induction ceremony starting at 7:30pm.  Event registration will be available on TribeClub.com.

Kyra Kaylor Smargiasso, Women's Basketball, Class of 2008
Kyra Kaylor helped bring the W&M women's basketball team to new heights during her five years on campus, and a decade after her graduation, still stands nearly unmatched in all-around excellence.  Kaylor had a dominant freshman season in 2003-04 before missing most of the next year due to injury.  Upon her return in 2005-06, she embarked on a three-year campaign that included several school records and saw her earn the program's first and so far only CAA Player of the Year award.
 
Kaylor was named third-team All-CAA and to the All-Rookie team in 2003-04, the first and so far only player in school history to earn a spot on one of the three top teams in her freshman season.  She scored 394 points that season, the second-most for a rookie in school history, and set freshman records for free throws made (106) and rebounds (219), marks that still stand today.  Her 2004-05 season was cut short after just four games, leading into a monster 2005-06.
 
Kaylor's redshirt-sophomore season was the stuff of legends, and earned her Player of the Year honors from both the Colonial Athletic Association and the Virginia Sports Information Directors, the first and so far only player ever at W&M to earn those accolades.  She was also named first-team All-CAA for the first of three consecutive seasons and was named first-team All-State by both VaSID and the Richmond Times-Dispatch.  Kaylor led the Tribe to a 15-13 record, its first winning season since 1999, and set the single-season scoring record with 522 points.  Kaylor also set the single-season record for rebounds with 334 (now second all-time), while recording a school-record 22 double-doubles.  She reached double-figures in 27 games and 20 points in 14, both all-time records.
 
The next season, 2006-07, Kaylor and her teammates went 19-12, the second-highest win total in school history to that point, and Kaylor repeated on the All-CAA first team.  She scored her 1,000th point that season in her 65th career game, the second-fastest to the mark in school history, and set the single-season record for free throws made with 152.  Kaylor also led the team in steals that year with 58, and played in a record-tying 31 games.  She improved that record to 32 games played and started the following year, 2007-08, as she put the finishing touches on her career.  In December, she became W&M's all-time leading scorer, finishing with 1,873 points, and later that season, also became the all-time leading rebounder with 1,124 rebounds.  Kaylor also still holds school records for free throws made and attempted, field goals made, double-digit scoring games, 20-point games, double-digit rebounding games, and career double-doubles.  She was named first-team All-CAA for a school-record third year in a row, and was named the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award winner.  In 25 years, she's still one of only three women in league history to be named Player of the Year and the Ehlers Award winner.  In 2009-10, Kaylor was named to the CAA 25th Anniversary Women's Basketball Team, the only player from W&M so honored.
