WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William & Mary baseball team used two four-run innings, including a big 2-out rally in the fifth, to down Sacred Heart, 12-3, on Sunday afternoon. The Tribe (4-1) totaled a season-high 13 hits to bounce back from the series-opening loss to the Pioneers (2-3).

W&M scored runs in five of the first seven innings and seven different W&M players collected hits. Seniors
Zach Pearson and
Hunter Smith accounted for six of the Tribe's 13 hits and eight of the 10 Tribe RBI. Smith homered to right field twice in the game, and Pearson tallied seven total bases on three extra-base hits.

Senior
Bodie Sheehan pitched brilliantly for the Tribe, throwing a shutout through four innings before giving up a solo home run in the fifth. He would finish the afternoon going 6.2 strong innings, surrendering just five hits and one run.Â

Sophomore
Randy Prosperi relieved Sheehan in the seventh, going 1.1 innings and surrendering two unearned runs. Junior
Jamie Sara closed out the game with a scoreless ninth.

Sheehan (1-0) earned the win for the Tribe, while Sacred Heart's Brent Teller (0-2) took the loss.

Tribe Standouts
The Green and Gold received a balanced effort from its starting lineup after four players finished with multiple hits. Smith continued to headline the offense with two dingers and four RBI. Pearson doubled twice, tripled and posted four RBI.

Matt Thomas and
Phil Conti belted two hits apiece. Raquet doubled and walked twice, while sophomore
David Hogarth crushed a RBI double. Prosperi fanned three of his seven batters faced. Sara also struck out two in his inning of relief.
