Men's Tennis Drops Sunday Match to Brown

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to Brown on Sunday afternoon at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. In a match-up that was much closer than the final score indicates, all six singles contests were hotly contested, including a trio that went three sets. In the end, the Bears (4-1) claimed the doubles point and singles wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 to secure the victory.

How It Happened
- Brown opened the match by taking the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3. Ben Collier and Peter Litsky gave the visitors the early advantage with a 6-3 win over the freshman duo of Jack Kelly and Oren Vasser at No. 3. Roger Chou and Charles Tan clinched the initial point with a 6-4 upset of the No. 45 nationally-ranked pair of senior Tristan Bautil and Finbar Talcott.
- In singles, Brown won five of six first sets all in close fashion by 6-4 or 7-5 score lines. Jacob Walker increased the Bears lead to 2-0 with a 7-5, 6-4 win over sophomore Sebastian Quiros at No. 3.
- Tan held off a rally from Kelly at the No. 4 position. The Brown senior won the opening set, 6-4, and then defeated the Tribe rookie in a second-set tiebreaker, 7-6.
- Junior Brenden Volk and Talcott rallied to force third sets at the top two singles positions. Both players dropped the first set by narrow 7-5 margins. Volk rallied to take the second by a matching 7-5 score over Litsky. Talcott took the second set from Ching Lam, 6-4, and jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third. Both matches were abandoned when the team result was decided.
-The No. 5 match-up between Vasser and Collier was in a third set as well when the match was decided. Vasser took the opening set, 7-5, before Collier answered with a 6-4 win in the second. The Tribe rookie led 2-0 in the third set when it was stopped.
- Robert Siniakowicz clinched the Brown victory with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over freshman Daniel Pellerito at No. 6.
