RICHMOND, Va. – The William & Mary women's basketball team put together a complete 40-minute effort and had 18 points apiece from senior
Victoria Reynolds and sophomore
Eva Hodgson in a 69-55 victory at in-state rival VCU on Sunday afternoon.
Up by two, VCU used a quick 5-0 run to take its largest lead of the game. Tera Reed made a lay-up, before Taya Robinson canned a 3-ball to make it 14-7 with 2:49 to go in the opening quarter.
Tied at 23-23, W&M closed the half on a 9-3 run to take its largest lead of the half at the break. Hodgson started the rally with a triple, but was answered by a lay-up from VCU. Reynolds added a lay-up, before Hodgson added another one. After a Rams' free throw, Reynolds sunk two from the line to with 0.9 seconds left in the half to make it 32-26.
The Tribe continued the run out of the locker room as it added the first six points of the third quarter to extend its lead to double-figures for the first time. Back-to-back 3-pointers from Hodgson and junior
Nyla Pollard made it 38-26 with 7:59 left in the third quarter.
VCU closed within five at the end of the third quarter, but the Green and Gold responded with an 8-2 run to start the fourth period. Pollard sparked the rally with a jumper, before redshirt sophomore
Sydney Wagner added a triple to push it back to double-figures. VCU answered with a jumper, but Pollard hit her third 3-pointer to make it 55-44 with 6:21 left. The Rams would only be able to bring the deficit back to nine, before W&M extended its lead to as many as 17 points in its 69-55 victory.

Nyla Pollard was in double-figures with 11 points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal, and a block, while redshirt sophomore
Sydney Wagner added 10 points, a rebound, two assists, and a steal.
VCU's Tera Reed had a team-high 14 points to lead three Rams in double-figures. She added three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Madison Hattix-Covington and Danielle Hammond added 12 points and 10 points, respectively, off of the bench. Hattix-Covington added an assist and two steals.
Inside the Numbers
- W&M shot a season-best 58.3-percent (21-of-36) from the field in the win. It was the third time this season the Tribe shot better than 50-percent.
- The Tribe also connected on 8-of-18 from 3-point range for 44.4-percent.
- The Green and Gold, which led the country in free throw percentage before the game, shot 19-of-21 from the line for 90.5-percent.
- W&M won the rebounding battle 30-21.
