WASHINGTON, D.C. – The William & Mary women's basketball team used a stellar second half as it erased as many as a 14-point deficit to top George Washington 63-51 in its non-conference finale on Sunday in the Nation's Capital. The Tribe held the Colonials to only 18 points in the second half, and just one fourth-quarter field goal to mount the road comeback victory.
Down seven early in the third quarter, W&M used a 7-1 run to cut the GW lead to one. Sophomore

Victoria Reynolds and freshman
Bre Bellamy had back-to-back lay-ups to make it 37-36 with 5:07 left in the third quarter. The Colonials answered with a four-point play, but the Tribe scored six of the last eight points of the quarter to make it 43-42 after three.
The Colonials scored their only field goal on their opening possession of the fourth quarter as the Tribe rallied back for the 12-point victory. Freshman
Chaniqwa Gilliam's driving lay-up tied the score at 44-44, but GW retook a one-point lead with a free throw on the next trip down the floor. The Hodgson took over as she scored the next seven points to give the Tribe a 51-45 lead with 3:22 left, which it did not relinquish.
George Washington came storming out of the gates with the first nine points of the contest. Sydney Zambrotta (four points) and Tori Hyduke (five points) combined for all nine points as the tandem traded baskets to start the game.
The Colonials took its largest lead thanks to scoring the first six points of the second quarter. Three straight baskets from Mayowa Taiwo, Alexandra Maund, and Faith Blethen made it 26-12 with 6:37 left in the first half.

Sydney Zambrotta led George Washington with 11 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Both Alexandra Maund and Tori Hyduke finished with 10 points. Maund added six boards, while Hyduke had four helpers.

- W&M shot 42.3% from the field (22-of-52), which included a 7-of-15 (46.7%) from 3-point range.
- The Tribe handed out 18 assists on its 22 makes, led by a game-high five from senior

- W&M, which is the nation's best free-throw shooting team coming into the game, shot 80% (12-of-15) from the free-throw line in the game.
- For the third straight game, W&M won the rebounding battle 33-31. The Tribe is 6-0 when it wins the battle on the glass.
