WEST POINT, N.Y. – Sophomore
Eva Hodgson scored a career-high 27 points to lead the Tribe to a 77-65 victory on opening night over Army at Christl Arena on Tuesday night.
Leading by nine, W&M (1-0) used a 9-2 run to take its largest lead in the first half. Junior
Gabby Rogers opened the run by sinking two free throws, before redshirt sophomore
Sydney Wagner canned a 3-pointer. After an Army basket, Wagner canned her second triple then Hodgson had a steal and a transition lay-up to take a 31-14 lead.
Army West Point (0-1) responded immediately as it answered with a 12-2 run to cut the lead to seven. Sarah Bohn opened the run with a personal 5-0 spurt, before Kate Murray added a lay-up to cut it to 10. After a freshman
Chaniqwa Gilliam basket, Alisa Fallon had five straight to end the run at 33-26. Both teams traded three-points at the end of the second quarter, and stepped aside at halftime with the Tribe up 36-29.

Bre Bellamy and Hodgson combined to score the next seven points to put the Green and Gold up 53-31 with 5:20 left in the third quarter.
Army could only cut the Tribe lead to eight points thanks to a 6-0 run late with 4:19 left in regulation. Lindsey Scamman buried a three-pointer before Sabria Hunter converted a traditional 3-point to make it 68-60.

Lindsey Scamman had a double-double to lead Army West Point scoring 24 points and adding 11 rebounds. Sarah Bohn finished with 14 points, three rebounds, and four assists, while Sabria Hunter had 13 points and seven boards.

- W&M shot 42.6-percent (24-of-53) from the floor in the game, including 41.7-percent (10-for-24) from distance in the game.
