How It Happened
James Madison jumped out to a 6-2 lead, but the Tribe rallied to win four of the next five points. The Dukes would take five of six points to take a 19-12 lead before Kate Dedrick's third kill of the set stopped the advance. The Tribe would get a 3-0 run late in the set highlighted by Julia Brown's ace, but it would not be enough as JMU took the first 25-18.

Lauren Merrill slammed a kill to begin the second set and kills from Kaitlyn Ferguson and Kate Dedrick would help the Tribe stay even with the Dukes, 5-5 early in the first. A pair of kills from Claire Farrell would give the Tribe an 8-7 advantage before a 4-0 W&M run extended the lead to 13-9 prompting a JMU timeout. James Madison would take six of the next seven points to regain a 15-14 edge. The Dukes would not trail again on their way to a 25-22 win.

Brown and Ferguson would each have early kills, but James Madison would rush out to an 11-4 lead in the third. The Tribe would prove unable to slow the Dukes down as JMU took the final set by a 25-7 decision.
