RICHMOND, Va. - For the second time this season, William & Mary freshman goalkeeper
Kieran Baskett was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. He picked up the honor on Sept. 16 as well.
Baskett recorded six saves in posting his third-straight shutout as the Tribe won at Coastal Carolina, 1-0, on Saturday night. He extended his shutout streak to 275:52 while registering his fourth match of five or more saves.
It marks the third time in the last four weeks that W&M took home the defensive player of the week honor. Along with Baskett's two awards, junior
Sam Golan garnered the distinction on Sept. 30.
On the year, Baskett leads the CAA in saves (41) and save percentage (.788) while coming in second in shutouts (3), goals against average (1.16) and saves per game (4.56). His save total ranks 27th nationally, and he is 37th in save percentage, as of Oct. 6.
Baskett and the Tribe return home for a pair of matches next week. W&M welcomes Elon on Wednesday, Oct. 9, in a CAA match before hosting state rival Old Dominion on Saturday, Oct. 12. Both matches carry a 7 p.m. kickoff and will be broadcast for FREE on CAA.TV.
