Men's Soccer Rolls to Exhibition Win at George Mason, 4-1

FAIRFAX, Va. – Senior Ryder Bell scored twice to spark the No. 30-ranked William & Mary men's soccer team to a dominating 4-1 victory in its lone exhibition match at George Mason on Monday afternoon.

Bell opened the scoring by slotting home a junior Julian Ngoh cross from 12 yards out in the 21st minute, and the Tribe led by the 1-0 line at the half.

W&M tallied three goals over a 26-minute stretch in the second half to pull away from the Patriots. Junior Tanner Shane found Bell in the 61st minute for his second goal of the afternoon, this time from 10 yards out into the right corner.

In the 75th minute, senior Antonio Bustmante set classmate Graham Guidry free on a breakaway down the right side to increase the lead to 3-0. After Mason scored just three minutes later, junior Richie Bellucci notched the capper in the 87th minute. Junior Lee Hogge found Bellucci who scored inside the left post from seven yards out.

Quotable
"Overall, we are happy with our performance. For our first outing, we were pretty sharp in our areas of focus. Now, we will recover, study the video and further refine things for Friday night." – Head men's soccer coach Chris Norris

By the Numbers
- W&M outshot the Patriots, 19-7, including a 9-1 advantage on goal.
- The Tribe held a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks as well.

Notes
The Tribe is unbeaten in last seven exhibition matches (3-0-4) and 11-1-8 in exhibition action dating back to 2006 … The meeting was the third exhibition tilt between the teams in the last four years … The previous two ended in draws (2-2 at Mason in 2015 and 1-1 at W&M in 2016) … Senior Sam Onyeador (first half) and freshman Connor Andrews (second half) each played 45 minutes on the day … If the stats counted, Bell would have tallied his fourth career two-goal game … He ranks 13th among active NCAA Division I players in goals with 23 … The goal and assist would have been the first in the careers of Bellucci and Hogge.
