Nicole Baxter '16 Enjoying First Professional Season in Sweden

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Former Tribe women's soccer standout Nicole Baxter is in the middle of her first professional season with Telge United FF in Sodertalje, Sweden.

"I made the decision to pursue my dream of playing women's professional soccer solely for myself and by myself and that is something that I am really proud of," Baxter said. "I have learned so much about a country and culture I knew nothing about three months again. I have been playing soccer and exploring Europe with some of my closest friends. I am living all expenses paid for in a country full of incredible people, food, and scenery. It is an experience that not many people get and one that I seriously can't even express my gratitude for."

Telge United FF plays in the South Stockholm conference of the Division 1 League. Baxter joined the squad in the beginning of May and the season stretches until October. Since joining the team, Baxter has appeared in 14 matches, scoring one goal, three assists, and four points.

Baxter was a staple in the Tribe lineup during her four-year career for the Tribe. She played in 77 games with 59 starts, scoring eight goals, 19 assists, and 35 points. The Pennington, New Jersey native enjoyed her best season during her senior year when she was tabbed to the All-Colonial Athletic Association First-Team.  Baxter led the team with 10 assists, while she added two goals for 14 points. As one of the defensive midfielder's on the team she has also helped a defense to 11 shutouts, while the team allowed just 0.88 goals a game. The 2015 Tribe won the CAA regular season, received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, and advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
