NORFOLK, Va. - The William & Mary men's tennis team closed out the regular season with a narrow 4-3 setback at No. 34-ranked Old Dominion on Sunday afternoon. The Green and Gold took the early lead by capturing the doubles point, but the Monarchs (16-6) won four of the six singles matches to pull out the team triumph. Senior

Brenden Volk continued his winning ways at No. 6.
After ODU won at the top doubles post, the Tribe responded with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 to claim the initial point of the match for the sixth time in the last eight matches. Senior

Louis Newman evened doubles play with a 6-4 win over Vincent Schneider and Jannik Giesse at the No. 3 spot. Volk and freshman
Michael Chen won for the seventh time in their last eight matches to clinch the point with a 7-5 triumph over Adam Moundir and Javier Jover Maestre on line two.
In singles action, Miller won his second straight and notched his first career nationally-ranked win. The Tribe senior topped No. 96-ranked Aziz Kijametovic, 6-2, 7-6, at the No. 2 post. Volk won his fifth-straight match at the No. 6 position, upending Jover Maestre in three sets, 6-1, 5-7, 7-5.

The Tribe returns to action when it takes part in the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association Championship, April 20-22. The event will be held at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in Elon, N.C., for the third-straight year. The seeding for the CAA Championship will be released from the conference office early next week. The Tribe opens play in the quarterfinals on Friday, April 20. The quarterfinals are slated for both 9 a.m., and 1 p.m., depending on seed. The CAA Semifinals are set for Saturday, April 21, at 10 a.m., with the championship match on Sunday, April 22, at 10 a.m.
