ELON, N.C. – The William & Mary women's basketball fell at Elon, 82-61, on Thursday night in the final game in Elon's Alumni Gym. With the decision, the Tribe falls to 16-12, 7-10 in Colonial Athletic Association play, while the Phoenix improve to 21-7, 13-4 in league action.
Down two, W&M used an 8-0 run to build its largest lead of the first half late in the first quarter. Sophomore
Nari Garner gave the Tribe its first lead on triple, before senior
Abby Rendle added a lay-up, and a jumper. Classmate
Jenna Green capped off the run with a free throw to make it 17-11 with 1:10 left in the quarter.
However, Elon went on to score the next 18 points to build its largest lead of the half. After scoring the last five points of the first quarter, Elon exploded with the first 13 points of the second quarter to build its largest lead of the half. Four-straight points from Meme Garner started the rally, before Shay Burnett, Lexi Mercer, and Garner connected on back-to-back-to-back triples. The run made it 29-17 just 3:30 minutes into the second quarter.
W&M cut the score to seven and then later nine early in the third quarter, but Elon used a 6-0 run to put the game out of reach. Ra'Shika White started the rally with back-to-back lay-ups, before Anna Popovic added a jumper to make it 55-40 with 2:21 left in the third.

Individual Highlights
Senior
Abby Rendle paced the Tribe with a game-high 16 points and six rebounds to lead three W&M players in double-figures. The senior shot 7-of-9 from the field in the contest. Classmate
Jenna Green was also in double-figures with 15 points, three assists, and two steals, while junior
Bianca Boggs chipped in 11 points, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Sophomore
Victoria Reynolds just missed double-figures with nine points and two steals.
Shay Burnett led the Phoenix with a triple-double. She scored 13 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and handed out 14 assists to lead three Phoenix in double-figures. Ra'Shika White added 15 points and six boards off of the bench, while Meme Garner had 15 points and four rebounds.
Inside the Numbers
- Both teams shot 50-percent from the floor in the contest. It was the 10th time this season W&M shot, better than, 45-percent, and only the second time this season the Tribe suffered a setback when shooting 45-percent, or better.
- However, Elon was on fire from range and shot 52.6-percent (10-for-19) from 3-point range.
- W&M connected on all five of its 3-point play attempts in the game. Senior
