RICHMOND, Va. – For the second time this season, William & Mary men's basketball freshman
Chase Audige was named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Audige started both games during the week and helped the Tribe to a 2-0 CAA start averaging 16 points, three rebounds, four assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game. He shot 60 percent (12-of-20) from the floor and 66.7 percent (6-of-9) from 3-point range. Audige, who also earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors on Nov. 26, is the first Tribe player since Omar Prewitt in 2013-14 to earn the league's weekly rookie award on multiple occasions in a season.
In the Tribe's CAA opening win over James Madison, Audige tallied 19 points, just one off his career high, on 7-of-11 shooting, including 3-of-4 from 3. He added three rebounds and four assists against the Dukes. On Sunday, Audige turned in an impressive stat line of 13 points, three rebounds, four assists, three blocked shots and two steals in W&M's 71-61 win over Towson. He canned 3-of-5 from 3-point range against the Tigers.
Audige ranks fourth among CAA rookies in scoring at 9.1 points per game. He is also eighth in the CAA in steals per game (1.2) and 15th in 3-point percentage (39.2).
The Tribe hits the road for the first time in CAA play on Thursday, Jan. 3, at Delaware. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. from the Bob Carpenter Center in Newark, Del.
