WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's basketball team capped off the best regular season in school history with a 74-65 victory over Drexel closing the regular season at Kaplan Arena on Wednesday night. With the win, the Tribe ties the regular season school record with 19 wins and are now 19-10, 9-9 in Colonial Athletic Association play, while the Dragons fall to 20-9, 11-7 in league action.

Alexandra Masaquel became the 18th player in school history to record her 1,000th career point as she finished with a double-double of a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds, leading four in double-figures. Junior
Abby Rendle just missed a double-double as she finished with 17 points, (7-of-7 from the field) eight rebounds, and five blocks. Senior
Latrice Hunter continued her recent hot streak as she added 15 points and four dimes, while classmate
Marlena Tremba added 10 points, six rebounds and six helpers.
Drexel scored the first five points of the night and then built on that to the tune of a 13-6 run taking its largest lead of the game by the same score. Bailey Greenberg started the game with a lay-up, before the Sarah Curran added a triple to make it 5-0 early. After the Tribe scored four in a row, Aubree Brown stopped the W&M run, but again the Green and Gold answered. However back-to-back triples from Meghan Creighton and Jessica Pellechio forced a Tribe timeout.
Trailing 19-14 in the early stages of the second quarter, the Tribe bolted out on to 14-0 run and never relinquished the lead. Freshman
Victoria Reynolds jolted the rally with a traditional 3-point play, before Hunter buried a 3-pointer of her own giving the Tribe the lead. Reynolds then sandwiched four points around another Hunter 3-ball, before Rendle had a free throw making it 28-19 lead with 3:15 left in the half.
The Tribe extended its lead into double-figures at 32-22, but the Dragons cut it to 33-28 at the break. W&M shot 50-percent from the field, while limiting the Dragons to just 32.3-percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes.
W&M pushed its halftime lead out to six points, before Drexel used a quick 6-0 run to tie the score. Again Creighton and Pellechio knocked down consecutive treys knotting the score at 40-40 with 5:13 left in the half.
The Green and Gold responded with a 4-0 run and never looked back. Rendle connected on two from the line before, Masaquel hit a jumper giving the Tribe some cushion.
Drexel cut it to one on a 3-point play by Brown, but W&M used a 12-3 run extending its margin back to double-figures. Masaquel sparked the Tribe with four straight points, before Tremba added a lay-up. Curran canned a trey stopping the run, but W&M got three straight lay-ups from Masaquel and two from Rendle pushing the advantage to 66-56.
For the game, the Tribe shot a season-best 58.3-percent (28-for-48) from the floor, which was the sixth-best in school history. Drexel finished at 41-percent (25-for-61), while they did hit 10-for-27 from deep (37-percent).
W&M again won the rebounding battle, making it the 17th time this season that they have won or tied the rebounding battle, including eight of the last nine games. W&M is 14-3 when they don't lose the rebounding battle.
Reynolds chipped in seven points off the bench. Sophomore
Bianca Boggs also finished with six points, a rebound, two assists, and a steal.
Pellechio led Drexel with a team-high 15 points, adding an assist, a block, and a steal. Curran had 13 points and six rebounds, while Greenberg added 10 points, three rebounds, two assists, and a block.
The Green and Gold locked up the No. 4 seed in next week's CAA Tournament, which will run from March 8-11 at the JMU Convocation Center in Harrisonburg, Va. W&M will play the No. 5 seed Delaware Blue Hens at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 9.
