WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Feb. 11, 2017)—The William & Mary lacrosse team fell to No. 2 Maryland, 13-3, in both teams' season opener at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field on Saturday afternoon.
Although the score was knotted at 2-2 early in the contest, Maryland held the Tribe scoreless for a stretch of more than 46 minutes en route to securing the victory.

Lindsey Jenks led the Tribe with two goals and a team-high three draw controls, while junior
Alexandria Specht also found the back of the cage. Junior
McKinley Wade added an assist.

Abby Junior came up big defensively with a team-high five caused turnovers and five ground balls to go with a draw control. Senior goalie
Alex Lista also played well and posted 13 saves.
While the Terps owned narrow advantages in draw controls (10-8) and ground ball (21-18), they capitalized on an 18-9 margin in turnovers.
Things looked good for W&M early, as Jenks put the College on the scoreboard first less than three minutes into the game.
Although UM countered with a pair of goals, another score by Jenks, coming on a free position opportunity with 20:01 showing, knotted the score.
While W&M was held scoreless during the remainder of the half, its defense played well and the Terps owned a 6-2 lead at the break.
However, Maryland opened the second half with six unanswered goals before Spect found the back of the cage with 3:46 remaining.
The Tribe returns to action with a scrimmage against the Wales National Team at Martin Family Stadium at Albert Daly Field on Monday at 4 p.m. W&M's regular-season slate will continue when it hosts George Mason next Saturday at 1 p.m.
