Women's Soccer Pounces Towson on Senior Day 3-1

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William & Mary women's soccer team scored the first three goals on the day as they pounced Towson 3-1 on Senior Day at Albert-Daly Field on Sunday. Seniors Rachel Moore and Elysse Branton as well as redshirt sophomore Sarah Segan scored in the victory. With the win, the Tribe improved to 7-9-2, 3-4-2 in Colonial Athletic Association play, while Towson dropped to 5-11-3, 2-6-1 in league action.

The Tribe started the scoring in the 17th minute. Freshman Erin Dailey played a ball into the right side of the box where Moore was able to corral it. The senior turned a shot into the left side of the goal.  Her fourth of the season made it 1-0 Tribe.

Just 10 minutes later, the Green and Gold doubled its margin. Segan played a perfect cross from the right side of the box to the left post. Branton sprinted to the spot and directed it in for her fourth tally of the season.

Segan then scored one of her own to put W&M up 3-0. The redshirt sophomore made a nice individual run into the left side of the pitch and into the area, before rocketing a low shot into the right corner of the net for her eighth marker of the season.

Towson got a goal back in the 75th minute, but that was as close as they came. Grace Mondloch sent a through ball into the box from just inside of midfield on the right side of the pitch. Sam Lotti, who was in the center of the box, was able to get her head on the pass and direct it into the net, cutting the Tribe lead to 3-1.
