Damon Niquet recorded three-set wins to propel the Green and Gold to its first win of the year.

Brown led 2-1 after posting singles wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 singles positions, but Cargill picked up his third victory of the year to even the match. The Tribe junior won the opening set in a tiebreaker, 7-6, before his Brown counterpart, Aaron Sandberg came back to take the second, 6-4. Not to be out done, Cargill turned it on in the decisive third, rolling to a 6-0 triumph to tie the team match at two.

After dropping the opening set at the top spot, Talcott rallied back to put the Tribe back in front with a triumph over to Peter Tarwid. The No. 72-ranked player in the country won the final two sets, 6-3, 6-3, to improved his ledger to 5-4.

Brown knotted the match at three with a win at No. 5, leaving the balance of the match in the hands a senior captain
Damon Niquet. Brown's Jacob Walker won the opening set, 7-5, before Niquet mounted his comeback. He pulled out the second set, 6-4, before claiming his fifth win of year and clinching the team victory with a 6-3 triumph in the third set. It marked Niquet's 60th career singles win.

The Tribe opened the match by claiming the important doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Brown won the first pairs match off the court at No. 2, before W&M answered with a win at No. 2. The Green and Gold duo of Cargill and junior
Lars de Boer topped Brown's Sandberg and Lucas Da Silveira, 6-3, at No. 3. The initial point of the match came down to the top spot where Talcott and junior
Ryan Newman upended Tarwid and Greg Garcia, 6-4. In clinching the doubles point, Talcott and Newman improved to 7-5 on the season.,

W&M wraps up its season-opening three-match Northeast road swing at Boston College on Sunday, Jan. 22. The match carries an 11 a.m. start time.
