ELON, N.C. - The No. 62 William & Mary men's tennis team suffered a 5-2 setback at Elon on Sunday afternoon. Junior Damon Niquet and sophomore Alec Miller claimed singles wins to lead the way for the Green and Gold. W&M fell to 12-6 on the year, while the Phoenix improved to 14-4.
 
In doubles, Niquet and sophomore Lars de Boer picked a win at the No. 3 position, downing the Elon pair of Neal Port and Salvador Mijares in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (6). The victory pushed the Tribe tandem's season mark to 5-2 at the third spot. Unfortunately for W&M, the Phoenix posted wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to claim the initial point of the match.
 
Things did not get any better for the Tribe in singles as Elon won the first four matches off the court, including three in straight sets, to claim the team triumph. Niquet got W&M on the board with his 13th-straight win. The Tribe junior downed Felipe Osses-Konig, 7-6 (0), 6-4, at the No. 6 position to improve to 16-8 on the year.
 
Miller needed three sets, but pulled out the victory at the No. 3 spot. The Tribe sophomore and Elon's Robert Lindgren split the opening two sets by matching 6-3 scores. In the decisive third set, Lindgren retired with the set tied a five. For Miller, it marked his 16th victory of the year and 10th dual-match play. 

The Tribe returns to action as it continues a six-match road swing at VCU on Wednesday, April 6, at 4 p.m.
