Box Score The William & Mary volleyball team put up a strong fight in every set Saturday night against East Carolina, before falling by a 3-0 count. The Tribe evened its record at 5-5 overall, while the Pirates improved to 6-2 and won the title at the ECU Invitational.

Heather Pippus (Lake Oswego, Ore.) and senior
Dessi Koleva (Torrance, Calif.). Koleva led the Tribe against the Pirates with her best offensive performance certainly of the weekend, and arguably of the season, hitting .310 with 13 kills. She also had eight digs and three blocks. For the weekend, Koleva averaged 3.0 kills, 2.58 digs, and 0.58 blocks per set. Pippus averaged 2.36 kills and 2.45 digs per set to earn her spot on the all-star list.
Also shining on Saturday night against ECU was sophomore
Paige Humphrey (Oak Hill, Va.), who paired five kills and five blocks. Classmate
Sydney Biniak (Elkridge, Md.) added in seven kills, and senior
Carolyn Albright (Raleigh, N.C.) had five kills and two blocks. Freshman
Katie Kemp (Brentwood, Tenn.) had 16 assists, to go with nine from
Austyn Ames (Wichita, Kan.) and seven from
Gabrielle Pe (Virginia Beach, Va.). Redshirt-junior
Michelle Heath (Rustburg, Va.) rounded out the notables with a pair of blocks, three kills, four digs, and a service ace.
William & Mary is back in action next weekend, traveling to the American Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18-19.
