WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary men's soccer team concluded its preseason schedule with a 1-1 draw against in-state rival George Mason on Sunday night at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field. Sophomore William Eskay netted the Tribe's lone goal, which was his second of the preseason.

Most of the first half was played in the midfield, but Mason had a strong look for the first goal in the 43rd minute. Following a Tribe foul, Daniel Hoffman lined up a free kick that was on frame, but turned away by redshirt junior goalkeeper Mac Phillips.

The Tribe had just three shots in the entire first half, all coming from the feet of junior Reilly Maw. Maw recorded shots in the third, 38th, and 41st minutes.

W&M jumped on the board first with a goal in 63rd minute. William Eskay stole the ball from a Mason defender a few steps outside of the 18. The sophomore took three steps and fired the ball into the right corner of the goal lifting the Tribe to a 1-0 lead.

George Mason just missed a chance to tie it in the 74th minute. Hoffman lined up a shot, on frame, but again Phillips was there for the save to preserve the Tribe's 1-0 advantage.

The Patriots found the equalizer in the 85th minute off of a throw-in. Brice Colcombe sent his long throw-in into the box and off the head of Cullen Hunter, who directed the ball into the left corner of the goal. That knotted the score at 1-1.

Phillips, who played the entire match in goal, finished the contest with a pair of saves. Maw led the Tribe with three shots, all in the first half.

GMU held a 6-4 advantage in shots for the night. That included a 3-1 advantage in shots on goal.

W&M opens the regular season on Friday, Aug. 28 when they travel to No. 13 Louisville. Kickoff for the season opener is set for 7:30 p.m.
